Chef Ari Weiswasser, the restaurateur behind Glen Ellen Star and Stella, has opened Smash, a fast-casual restaurant on Sonoma Plaza devoted to lacy-edged smashburgers and a family-friendly vibe.

The former Villa restaurant has reopened as The Junction, a sprawling Santa Rosa beer garden with blistered pizzas, cocktails, fire pits and plenty to keep kids — and dogs — happy.

What started out as a one-day party has grown to a three-day celebration of wine, food and good times, held at three local wineries in June.
