Start the day with a green parade: Every St. Patrick's Day, Healdsburg celebrates all things Irish with an early morning parade - one of the biggest celebrations north of the Golden Gate. The festivities begin with breakfast at 6 a.m., served at B&B Lounge, John & Zeke's Bar, and Costeaux French Bakery. The parade starts around 7 a.m. at Sanderson's Ford (435 Healdsburg Avenue). Hundreds of on-lookers will watch green-clad participants and their pets march around the plaza, after which they can have a post-parade breakfast (at various locations) and watch a celtic concert on the plaza at noon. Bring the little ones for a family-fun Irish festival: Railroad Square in Santa Rosa will go green during the first annual St. Paddy's Day on the Square party. The family-friendly, afternoon event will feature live music, a catered corned beef and cabbage brunch (with a mac and cheese option for the kids), and a beer and whiskey garden pouring all the liquid gold one can enjoy. the event is sponsored by Chandi Hospitality Group, the folks who recently renovated Stout Brothers Irish Pub & Restaurant. Dance to bagpipes in a beer garden: Santa Rosa's fine English pub Toad in the Hole will celebrate on March 17 with bagpipes, traditional ales, live music by Lucky Ol' Bones and dancing in the beer garden. Enjoy a wee tipple of wine: The Roche family of Sonoma has been producing wines for over 35 years, their heritage traces all the way back to the motherland of Ireland. This year, they will be celebrating St. Patrick's Day by doing what they love the most: drinking wine and eating good food. with what they love to do best: drink wine and eat good food. The winery tasting room, located in downtown Sonoma, will offer a reserve tasting paired with an Irish-themed charcuterie platter, which will include Irish brown bread canapés, Dublin cheddar cheese, cured olives, and a mini Banoffee pie. Party with the locals by the Sonoma Plaza: Murphy's Irish Pub is the place to be in Sonoma on St. Patrick's Day. The pub recently changed hands - the four new owners all hail directly from Ireland and two of them are local "Sonomans." On March 17, they'll welcome the community to a celebration with live celtic music by the Wry Rovers, The Prady Bunch and Tudo Bem, and Irish dancing in the alley. Run all the way to the brewpub for a good cause: The first annual Petaluma St. Patty's Day Parkinson's Run seeks to "chase the shakes" away by raising funds for Rock Steady Boxing's "Sponsor a Boxer" program that provides free boxing classes that have been proven to help those suffering from Parkinson's Disease fight their symptoms. Have Michelin-worthy corned beef and cabbage: Wear your baggy Leprechaun costume to the annual Jiggs and Maggie Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner, you'll leave with a full belly. Award-winning chef Dino Bugica of Diavola Restaurant will serve up Irish classic corned beef and cabbage paired with local wines, beer and whiskey. There will be live music, a silent auction, raffle and a baked goods sale with proceeds benefiting the Geyserville High School scholarship fund. Go green in Rohnert Park with dinner and a movie: The second annual Sally Tomatoes St. Patrick's Day Celebration will offer all the hits of American-Irish culture that will impress your dinner date: an all you-can-eat buffet of corned beef and cabbage, Irish stew, homemade soda bread, mushy minty peas, potatoes and carrots paired with tons of drink specials (Irish mules, Guinness and more), and the screening of the classic Irish romance film, The Quiet Man.
