A few weeks ago, Sonoma Restaurateurs Mark and Terri Stark (of Monti’s, Bravas, etc.) announced that they would be opening a new restaurant at the former Italian Affair in Santa Rosa. More details about the space are emerging, including the fact that (not big surprise) the menu will have a strong focus on poultry.

“We’re bringing chicken back,” said Terri Stark. “We’re moving on from all pig, all the time,” she added, which is a departure from the pig-centric bent of many a Wine Country chef over the last five years.

Not that a little pork and beef won’t show up on the American comfort food menu, but expect crispy chicken skin instead of pork rinds and fried pork ears (featured at Willi’s Wine Bar). The feel will be “modern tavern style” said Stark of the decor, more homey and less minimal. The good news for al fresco diners: The restaurant will feature 48 seats on the front deck for warm-weather dining.

The Starks are aiming to open by the end of the year.

  1. Thank you to Bird and Bottle for a great free dinner while evacuated! I was working volunteer shifts at Memorial Hospital. Starving, dropped in on recommendation of a friend on NextDoor. Boy was I ever treated! A “mind” rejuvenating cocktail, oysters, Salmon “wings”, garlic greens and a lovely glass of wine! I can’t tell you how much I needed that meal and fun time sitting at the bar!

    1. Hi Mike. If you visit the main Stark Restaurants website and click Gift Certificates at the bottom of the screen, it will take you to that page. Gift cards are good at all Stark Restaurants (including Bird & The Bottle). You can also purchase one in person at Stark’s Steak & Seafood at 521 Adams St in Santa Rosa.

  2. Note to the Starks.. I am a huge fan of ALL your restaurants, however when I eat out the last thing I want to eat is chicken…I eat so much poultry throughout the wk, I feel like by Sunday I should have feathers! When I spend money to eat out I never, ever order chicken!

    1. We will have plenty of options for you to choose from, Celeste, you can come seven days a week and never eat a piece of chicken. Look forward to having you as a guest.
