New brewpub and eatery, Pub Republic has opened off Lakeville Hwy. in a space that’s revolved several times, most recently as Zocolos Mexican Grill.
It’s an airy-open space with about a dozen brews on tap including Hop Stoopid double IPA from Lagunitas, a smoked porter from Stone Brewing and Honey Saison from Almanac.
The menu’s standard pub fare that includes fish and chips, burgers and plenty of fried appetizers along with some meatier entrees for dinner. Though our first trip left a bit to be desired on the food end (locals say things are improving), we were intrigued by the Brussels Sprout Tacos ($8) — the sprouts were sauteed with lots of garlic then mixed with lime, cheese and avocado. Not for everyone, but certainly something unique.

Had the sprouts tacos–I live sprouts but not in a taco. Husband’s burger was just OK. We were hoping for more ‘pub fare’. Grilled cheese, blt, club sandwich–just good family food.

I love the place, food is awesome!! I live just down the street and everyone’s talking about how great this place is and how good the food is. I have been in three times now and each time the servers were amazing. The menu is very creative, and a great variety, which I love. They also have a great kids menu…and my kids are picky!!! They bring out carrots and apple slices to the kids right when you sit down…(and the kids eat them!)…genius!!
Tried this place for lunch yesterday. Had a mushroom swiss burger ($10) which was ok, nothing special. Fries were overcooked. Friend had breakfast sandwich ($8) which had a generous portion of thick cut bacon on a large English muffin. Service was attentive, but server had apparently burned her hand in the kitchen and had it wrapped in ice, which dripped all over the floor as she took our order. Can you say “safety hazard?” Ice was still dripping as we paid the check, as she had apparently dribbled all over the receipts (making it difficult to sign.) Beer list was adequate, with most choices standard tap fair. It’s a nice, roomy space – very bright and airy – but needs to step it up in the food and service departments to ensure return traffic…
Hoping the food does get better, wasn’t very impressed. The burger I ordered sounded delicious but was just OK and way overdone. Fries were a bit on the cold side. Friends fish and chips were just OK. I like the concept…I would love to try the brussel sprout tacos, but might not be back until someone else is really dying to try it.
