BiteClub has confirmed that the former La Strada restaurant on Stony Point and Todd Road in Santa Rosa will soon reopen as Casa Del Mar, a Mexican seafood restaurant and nightclub.
Curious neighbors and eaters have been wondering for months what was
going on with massive renovation. The former steakhouse closed a little
over a year ago.
Insiders say that the restaurant is set to open in mid to late February.

No, these are new owners. Family owned.
Whatever happened to the grand opening? When is this place going to open ?
Nevermind. I saw people there. They probably just needed a break from owrking so hard!
I tryed calling the number and it’s been disconnected. Also the website for Casa del Mar reads:Closed
I havent seen any new work being done for at least 1 1/2 weeks. Did it go down even before opening. I hope not!
Does anyone know if it was sold or if Dominic and Maria are still going to be running this new place?
Given the current economic struggles I hope they get the patronage to make a go of it. I know I’ll be trying it for lunch and dinner. I not much on nightclubs but I do love my mexican food. Best of Luck. Roger W. Hamilton Santa Rosa
well, i remember way back when it was LaGrande`s restaurant, when it was a great restaurant/also knew “Dominic`s”/I worked across the street for 13 years/”La Strada” the worst/only hope it will revive the area.
I hope it doesn’t attract the same crowd as it did when it was La Strada. I live around the corner and there were police constantly there-fights in the parking lot, people driving drunk, etc…
It would be nice to have a mexican restaurant that I can walk to- hope they have great food and good prices.
First, it is a restaurant and nightclub. There are many successfull ones around the county. I doubt that the people that have put in a lot of money into this place haven’t thought about all the problems that’s assumed will happen.
Second, I am familiar with the Old La Strada. I have gone there during one of the few good times. It’s been years since then and times have changed if you haven’t noticed. But, there will always be those few bad apples that ruin it no matter whaere you go and no matter what city your in.
I’m going to give this place a try for lunch and probably dinner too. If I like what they have to offer as far as a nightclub then I’ll probably go too.
Like I tell my son…don’t knock it until you try it.
Seriously.. Mom and Pop? Are you kidding me? Are you familiar with the old La Strada???? It’s environment? The patrons? Wake up Local Gal. We can only HOPE that this nightclub will be a Mom and Pop kind of place.
I’m looking forward to the new restaurant. My co-workers and I have been patiently waiting for the past year for it to open. I work close by and often have vendors take us out to lunch. We try to eat at local establishments as much as possible.
The building is looking great and it would be a great
visual addition to the area.
SUPPORT YOU LOCAL MOM AND POP BUSINESS!
What is this “they” “our” business? Grow up and stop segregating our community. The building is beautiful and I hope the restaurant succeeds.
I don’t think it went thru because people are saying the Cantina is currently up for sale.
This will be a fantastic spot. This is exactly what Sonoma county needs
What I remember is that their other restaurants were unsuccessful. Why would one want to patronize their Mexican food restaurant? If you want really good Mexican food check out this place called Las Palmas on Santa Rosa Avenue. The chef cooks grilled tacos to perfection.
I thought Santana had purchased The Cantina.
Carlos Santanas resturant has been shelved!
Its really great to see that the Mexican population is able to establish businesses in Santa Rosa, bravo for them.
Can hardly wait till it opens to eat there!!!! Bet it’s yummy!
No, Carlos Santana is not a part of this particular restaurant. His restaurant will be called “Maria Maria” after his song and is scheduled to open in June.
Hopefully this one will be better than the last. What a crap hole that was. The food and service was bad, but the atmosphere was worse.
