DoorDash recently released its top burger and hot dog spots in the U.S. in celebration of Labor Day, with four Sonoma County restaurants making the cut.
The roundup of more than 60 burger joints and hot dog stands stretches from Chicago to Seattle. Among the local favorites recognized by the food-delivery service are Superburger, Acme Burger, Machado Burgers and Ozzie’s Grill.
According to DoorDash, customers used the app to order more than 100 million burgers and 28 million hot dogs last year — a testament to the staying power of two quintessential American foods.
For this year’s roundup, DoorDash analyzed ordering and customer-review data from August 2025 through July 2026. To qualify, restaurants had to be small or medium-sized operations serving burgers and/or hot dogs, with at least 1,000 reviews, fewer than 10 locations and some of the highest average customer ratings.
As Sonoma County heads into the Labor Day weekend, here’s a look at the four local spots DoorDash customers are recommending for a burger or hot dog.
Acme Burger
Originally opened in Cotati in 2019, Acme Burger quickly built a following for its affordable, chef-made burgers. The restaurant has since expanded to five locations across Cotati, Petaluma and Santa Rosa.
The Cotati location has a 4.7-star DoorDash rating from more than 10,000 reviews. Among its highest-rated dishes are the signature Acme Burger, buttermilk fried chicken burger and sweet potato fries.
The freshly ground quarter-pound burgers are seasoned with a signature spice blend and served with crisp lettuce, tomato and house Awesome Sauce on sesame-seed Franco American buns. Acme also serves Miller’s all-beef smoked hot dogs, including a chili cheese dog.
The menu goes well beyond burgers. There are turkey, tuna and veggie burgers; chicken and pulled pork sandwiches; and fried Bodega Bay rock cod. Sides include fries, tater tots, onion rings, fresh salads and scratch-made soups. Milkshakes and ice cream cones are made with Straus chocolate or vanilla soft serve.

Machado Burgers
With its classic Americana atmosphere, weekly car shows and old-school burger-joint menu, Machado Burgers has long been a Larkfield favorite. The restaurant opened a second location in Windsor last year and serves what is quite possibly the most perfect bacon cheeseburger in Sonoma County.
The Santa Rosa location has a 4.7-star DoorDash rating from more than 2,000 reviews. Its highest-rated dishes include the barbecue bacon cheeseburger, patty melt and regular cheeseburger.
Machado’s burgers are made with 100% ground Angus chuck and topped with cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles and house sauce on a seedless bun. The menu also includes turkey and garden burgers, grilled and fried chicken sandwiches, grilled cheeses and tri-tip dips, as well as chicken tenders and corn dogs.
Sides include chili, coleslaw, fries, tater tots and onion rings. For dessert, there are ice cream cones, floats, sundaes, malts and milkshakes.

Ozzie’s Grill
Ozzie’s Grill has been serving Santa Rosa since 1992, earning a following for its oversized burgers and old-school atmosphere.
On DoorDash, Ozzie’s Grill has a 4.7-star rating from more than 3,000 reviews. Its highest-rated items include the bacon cheeseburger, corn dogs and milkshakes.
The freshly ground beef burgers come with a choice of cheese and toppings, including lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles and mayonnaise, all served on a soft bun. The menu also includes veggie and turkey burgers, assorted sandwiches, hot dogs and corn dogs, chicken tenders and fish and chips.
Sides include salads, fries, onion rings and housemade chili. Dessert options range from milkshakes and ice cream cones to banana splits, hot fudge sundaes and root beer floats.

Superburger
Superburger traces its roots to the 1950s, when it opened in a small shack off Fourth Street in Santa Rosa. The longtime local institution still serves old-fashioned, char-grilled burgers from its original Fourth Street location, along with a second location in Cotati.
Over the years, Superburger expanded to locations in Cotati, Petaluma, Penngrove, Santa Rosa and Windsor. Most have since closed as the owner has returned the business to its roots.
The original Santa Rosa location has a 4.6-star DoorDash rating from more than 6,000 reviews. Its highest-rated items include beer-battered onion rings, the bacon-and-cheese Superburger and milkshakes.
The third-pound Black Angus burgers are char-grilled and served with a choice of cheese, lettuce, onion, tomato and pickles, plus Supersauce on soft potato buns. Superburger also serves third-pound, all-beef kosher hot dogs, including chili and Reuben dogs.
Beyond its burgers, the menu includes charbroiled chicken sandwiches, French dips and a sourdough patty melt. Sides include fries, tater tots, onion rings and pineapple coleslaw. There are also fresh-brewed iced teas and lemonades, along with more than 20 milkshake flavors.
