Coddingtown: Three New Restaurants Coming

jacksAs Coddingtown Mall in Santa Rosa continues its reinvention, three significant restaurants are slated to open this spring and summer. They will join the already-opened Chipotle, Whole Foods & Taproom, BJ’s Brewery, Quizno’s, Subway, Baskin Robbins and Starbucks.

The first to open will be Sea Noodle Grill, from the owners of Sea Thai Bistro (Santa Rosa, Petaluma). The restaurant is slated for an April opening in the former Fresh China location after an interior overhaul.

Jack’s Urban Eats, a Sacramento-based fast-casual chain is slated for May. The popular salad, sandwich and “carved meats” restaurant has nine other locations mostly in the Sacramento/Davis/Roseville area.  Menu items include Chinese chicken salad, Thai prawn salad; hearty steak, turkey and barbecue sandwiches (yes, there’s a veggie); kid-friendly chicken strips, fries; carved meats (tri-tip, roasted turkey); and homey sides of mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, veggies, soup and baked cheese bread.

Finally, Coddingtown Grill will also be opening this year (likely late summer). Details are still vague on the concept, but the restaurant owner is currently developing a similar grill concept at Stoneridge Mall in Pleasanton (also a Simon Mall) that will open this spring. The Coddingtown Grill space will likely be near the front of the mall near Starbucks, said mall reps.

One other Coddingtown spring opening will be Jamba Juice, bringing the number of eateries at the mall to eleven.

  1. Rad! I’m excited about Jack’s Urban Eats. I wonder if this Coddingtown Grill place will take away buisiness from BJ’s? Maybe it’ll go where Sweet River was. Either way I’m excited. Good job Coddingtown!

  2. A lot of negativity. It’s all a huge improvement from what it was so let’s just be happy with that.

    1. Seriously…I was raised on the notion “if you don’t have anything nice to say than don’t say anything at all” but of course “misery loves company” so unfortunately we’re going to hear from the downers out there.

      This is all a huge improvement for Coddingtown and a great mix of local & national eateries. Personally, I’m excited for more reasons to go as there haven’t been many in recent years.

  4. I see a concept emerging – Coddingtown will become a giant food court. Forget about the stores that no one is going to anyway 🙂

    1. Wow. I’m actually kind of impressed at having a new Sea Thai restaurant, a whole foods, a target and a chipotle.

      Sad that there are so many haters.

      I think these restaurants might actually bring some people back.

    2. While I’m not ready to start saying “Coddingtown will become a giant food court,” I do feel Target was a bad choice. Crate & Barrel or Ikea would have made better choices. However, if Dick’s Sporting Goods couldn’t have a x-foot tall sign, Lord knows Santa Rosa would have complained about Ikea’s business model. It’s a miracle anything new is allowed to open shop in this anti-business city.

      1. I’m guessing there is NO WAY either Crate & Barrel or Ikea would move into a mall anchored by JCPenny and Macy’s. If Coddingtown had a Nordstrom, there might be a chance for either of those two. I’m lobbying for both Nordstrom and Ikea a bit further north, perhaps just south of Windsor – lots of empty fields!!!!

    3. maybe they are stores YOU just don’t go to, nice to see new choices to dine and shop, this is a Simon Mall model I’m finding everywhere in California, a little generic with some local, I’m in! 🙂

  5. Is ANOTHER Jamba Juice really what this city needs? If they were going to go the juice/smoothie route, I would have rather have seen Robek’s find its way up here from Southern California. Their drinks are FAR superior to Jama Juice’s beverages. I hope the other eateries are good, though!

    1. Personally, I’d rather have it be Jamba Juice than another freakin’ Juice Shack.. We have too many of those in town, not to mention their smoothies are terrible! Lol.

  6. Yay!! I worked at Jack’s in downtown Sac in 2004-ish. I still go there any chance I get. Never had garlic fries anywhere else that beat theirs – of course, maybe it was because one of my jobs was making them. Meat is great and the salads are all you could ask for – actually, you do get to ask for your salad fixin’s. I always got croutons (homemade!) and house marinated mushrooms. You will TOTALLY dig the Urban Fires – just the right amount of heat!
