Street art in the Egg Capital of the World. Alleys along the riverfront in downtown Petaluma add some grit to your photoshoots. With street art in unusual places like the back of an art gallery and alleyways showcasing the brick facades of the downtown businesses, there is something to capture with your camera around every corner. Jurassic Park in Wine Country. Swede’s Feeds Pet and Garden is a gift shop and farm center on Highway 12 in Kenwood. In addition to goats, chickens, cats, and a dog, the uncommon goods shop is home to a 10-foot-tall metal dinosaur and many other art sculptures that guests can purchase or photograph. Birds of a feather. Saint Teresa of Avila in Bodega—made famous in Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds—is an Instagrammer’s dream. The white wooden church with a traditional steeple sits atop a hill overlooking the highway out to the Sonoma Coast. Visitors flock (pun intended) to share pictures of themselves soaring from bird "attacks." (Photo courtesy of @rustic_impressions)

Jump in. As if a road trip through the vineyards of Dry Creek Valley isn’t gorgeous enough, make a stop by the Lake Sonoma Overlook for a sunset shot of the valley and the lake. This hill, on the border between the valley and the lake, is a place for hikers, picnickers and 'grammers - just follow the signs at the end of Dry Creek Valley road. Goonies never say die. Goat Rock State Beach in Jenner is the site of the famous final pirate ship scene in the classic 80’s film, The Goonies. That fact alone makes this destination worthy of a visit, but the beach also features picturesque sand dunes, driftwood, and views overlooking the spot where the Russian River meets the Pacific Ocean. Sweet as candy. Patrick’s Salt Water Taffy is a cotton candy-colored landmark located in Bodega Bay. The quaint shop is filled with rows of colorful and gooey candy bins. The store front offers a pretty backdrop for Instagram selfies. Embrace the wind off the bay and be sure to buy some taffy to take home. (Photo courtesy of @shannon.morrow)

They might be giants. Armstrong Woods, by the river town of Guerneville, is a State Natural Reserve. There is no bad time of year to take a walk among the giants; the hundred-year-old trees provide the backdrop for quiet meditation (with brief interruptions from selfie-snaps) or a long hike. #IHaveThisThingWithFloors. There’s a whole subset of Instagram users who love taking pictures of their shoes/feet at different locations. The more colorful and unique the textile, the better. (Photo of the Flying Goat courtesy of @bohobungalow)

Feed me, Seymour. California Carnivores, a nursery just south of Sebastopol, hosts the largest carnivorous plant collection in North America. Earlier this year, travelers marveled at the rare and stinky Corpse Flower, which only blooms once every 10 years. Adults and children will love taking pictures of the Venus flytraps and other strange botanicals. (Photo courtesy of @charlespowell2)

Color me happy. The mural on the side wall of Honeymoon Frozen Yogurt in Sebastopol was created by local artist Victoria Wagner. The turquoise wall is a fun background for any picture with a bowl of frozen yogurt. Bonus points if you add gummy worms or sprinkles. (Photo courtesy of @sharayray)

Pretty in pink. Driving through Sonoma Valley, it is hard to miss La Michoacana, a natural ice cream and paletas (ice cream bars) shop with a bright pink exterior. Exotic flavors and a colorful textile—this definitely is a shop made for Instagram. (Photo courtesy of @mcnubbin)

Sonoma County is a visual destination, with many artists, designers, and photographers calling the rolling hills of wine country home. Remember to be respectful and supportive of all small business owners, and purchase something when you visit for an Instagram opportunity. (Photo courtesy of @kaiquesrocha)
