Anyone know a place in Sonoma or Napa to get a fried turkey (before or after the holidays?) Though they’re booked up solid for this year, Yat’s in San Francisco had the brilliant idea to allow folks to bring their own turkeys in for frying (and special seasoning). Get the details.

PIE FOR EVERYONE
Mom’s Apple Pies will be open 10am to 3pm on Thanksgiving day. Expect lots of pumpkin. Order ahead if you want something different. 4550 Gravenstein Hwy. North, Sebastopol, 707-823-8330

LAST MINUTE SHOPPING

  • Whole Foods:  Thanksgiving hours are 8am to 2pm.
  • Safeway: Yulupa Store is open 24 hours, other SR locations regular hours (6am to 12pm). Check more locations.
  • G & G Market/Santa Rosa: Closed on Thursday
  • Olivers: Montecito, Stony Point, Cotati, open from 7am to 3:30pm
  • Pacific Market: Santa Rosa, Sebastopol, Rohnert Park: 7:30am to 2pm.

LET SOMEONE ELSE COOK
BiteClub called around, and the majority of restaurants are closed on Thanksgiving Day, though you may find some chains and buffets open for biz. Here are a few that are offering special Turkey Day dining.

Willie Bird’s Restaurant
Family-favorite serving up delightful Willie Birds. Full holiday turkey dinner along with other menu items. Reservations required and most are taken, but some walk-ins accepted. Open until 8pm. 1150 Santa Rosa Ave., Santa Rosa, 707.542.0861

Estate restaurant, the newest of girl and the fig’s Sondra Bernstein will be open for Thanksgiving from 2-7pm. Check out the menu, which includes sugar pie pumpkin ravioli, fig leaf roasted turkey roulades and chocolate polenta cake.

Madrona Manor is offering a four-course turkey dinner for $71. Call ahead for seating.(707) 433-4231 

John Ash and Co., will be open for Thanksgiving, featuring a traditional turkey dinner. Call for reservations. 707.527.7687

Sassafrass Restaurant will offer Thanksgiving dinner seating
from 1 to 6pm for $45 per person. Check out the menu
Wine Train Thanksgiving: Chef Kelly Macdonald does a traditional dinner from 5 to 8pm on the Napa Wine Train.

Josef’s Restaurant

Nectar – Hilton Sonoma Wine Country

OTHER THAN EATING
Save a Turkey Trot: 
A 5k run-walk at Analy High School in Sebastopol to give thanks.
Winners in each dividion will have a turkey adopted by the Farm
Sanctuary Adopt-A-Turkey Program. Registration at 8am on the 27th, race
starts at 9:30. More details.
