Okay, so the news came out last week that Mark and Terri Stark’s Stark Reality Restaurants (Stark’s Steak and Seafood, Willi’s Wine Bar, Monti’s, Bravas, etc) had purchased the former Italian Affair restaurant in Santa Rosa.

BiteClub can confirm its been in the works for a long, long time, but the deal only became final in early April.

So here’s the rest of the story…

There’s been speculation for months that the Starks would be closing Monti’s in Montgomery Village and moving it to the space at 1055 Fourth St.

Wrong-O.

According to Terri Stark, they will be opening a NEW restaurant in the space (if you’re keeping count, that’s number six for them). Opening is slated for November. The couple are remaining tight-lipped about the menu concept, but are naming it Bird & Bottle.

Monti’s will be undergoing some renovation in “the near future” Stark said, but not closing or moving.

  1. So happy Monti’s isn’t leaving! I heard that rumor several months ago and we were aghast! We love Monti’s and it’s the closest location for us of all the Stark restaurants. And we love them all. Looking forward to the Bird & Bottle opening, hopefully soon!

  2. Glad to hear it. It’s a beautiful space and the Starks have a many-times-over proven formula for success; the combination should make for another hit.

  3. Can’t wait to try the new restaurant and so happy to hear Monti’s is staying put! All of the Stark’s establishments are terrific. Love them.

  4. I remember when Italian Affair was in the Town & Country where Carmen’s is now! There was some kind of upset and the owner (father of the current guy) shot at someone!!!!!! Haven’t been to the 4th St. place in a dozen years, think it’s ready for the Starks’ magic!!!

  5. Teri and Mark will make it something fun and unique I’m sure. Not at all unhappy the old place closed, I was disappointed in the food (bland Italian) and didn’t much care for the overly opinionated owner either.

  6. Exciting! Hope the changes at Monti’s include bringing back their old shoestring fries.
