5 New Sonoma County Stores We’re Excited About
New year, new you, and new stores! Here are a few businesses that have recently set up shop in Sonoma County.
Olive + Rose Studio, Santa Rosa: Interior designer Chelsea Miller was inspired to create the retail space Olive + Rose as a place to find home accessories. Understated, effortless beauty is the throughline of Miller’s curation. Items like stitched-edge linen napkins and hand-made ceramics are available in simple styles that lend focus to the integrity and value of the materials from which they’re made. A few furniture picks as well as thoughtfully assembled gift baskets are also in supply. 111 4th St., 707-919-3072, oliveandrosestudio.com
Bon Ton Studio, Healdsburg: Goods made of natural materials in earthy hues make up a vibrant collection at this new Healdsburg boutique. Shop for pretty enhancements to your home and wardrobe: cotton/wool blend throws with playful pom-poms, Turkish towels, Moroccan poufs and a few wardrobe staples from dusty rose to rust. Bon Ton Studio has developed its style over years of shopping the globe. Now it’s taking its pretty pop-up and online presence into the brick and mortar world. Bon Ton Studio, 20 Matheson St., Healdsburg, bonton-studio.com.
Chateau on the Square, Sonoma: Chateau Sonoma, located at the Cornerstone Sonoma marketplace, is known for its signature mix of elegant and rustic (think antique chandeliers and vintage terra cotta seedling pots). The vibe is inspired in large part by the aesthetic of the French flea markets where proprietress Sarah Anderson finds many of the store’s offerings. Anderson has now opened a second location for her houseware store at Sonoma's historic square. Mais oui! 453 1st ST W, Sonoma, 707-309-1993, chateausonoma.com.
Boho Bungalow, Petaluma: This popular hub of happy bohemian chic finds, with stores in Occidental and Sebastopol, is adding a third location in Petaluma. Store proprietress Faith Parker uses her design skill and love of good vibes to create an aesthetic that is welcoming (cheeky signage and playful tchotchkes), richly casual (nubby throws and large-weave pillows), and references the beauty of Sonoma County (woods and rustic textures) and her travels abroad. 143 Kentucky St., Petaluma, 707-874-6030, thebohobungalow.com.
Hush Up Boutique, Windsor: After losing her business in the Tubbs fire, longtime hairstylist and entrepreneur Marie Eposti-Winter morphed her style prowess into clothing sales. In partnership with her daughter, Catilyn Carpenter, a veteran of LA's high-end retail scene, Eposti recently opened Hush Up Boutique (at the Town Green) committed to bringing hip styles from the LA’s fashion industry. Hush Up is a high-end edition to her first store Hush, which successfully opened at Village Center months earlier. 9077 Windsor Rd., Windsor, 707-620-04909, facebook.com.
