Santa Rosa’s newest sud stop , Steele and Hops Brewpub, has opened, with a more than 20 beers on tap and a menu that includes a house smoked beef brisket sandwich with homemade bbq sauce on a brioche bun, house ground burgers, fried cheese curds, pizzas and other beer (and wine) friendly grub.

Restaurant veteran and co-owner Cully Williamson has given the former Heritage Public House a makeover, adding a 10 barrel stainless steel fermentation tank behind the bar, and plans to continue brewing beer on location in 2017.

Biteclub checked out the soft opening, and loved the cheese curds and pizza on the abbreviated menu. I’ll report back when the kitchen has had a few days to settle in, and the full menu is out. But all signs point to the third time being a charm for this family-friendly watering hole.

ENOUGH WITH THE @#(*$&@*# BREWPUBS!!!!!! How much stupid beer and crappy bar food can one area really need?!!?!??!?!
Terrible food, really really bad service, out of many menu items like fries and deviled eggs. My friends and I are very patient and forgiving people. But this was probably one of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve ever had in my entire life. Beer sat at the bar for 20 minutes before being brought to our table. Half of our food order was forgotten. The food that was brought out was very cold. Waited over an hour and food was brought out piecemeal. One member of our party was brought out a burger and completely finished it before any other food was brought out. This place is not ready for prime time yet. The process is not in place: servers have not been trained, kitchen is not in order. It really felt like the kitchen was in complete chaos. We looked around and every other table seemed to be having the same problem. It makes me feel bad because I know the owners have put a lot of money and time into this place. They really need to work on the process though.
Sadly, my wife and I, along with two friends for lunch today (Friday). My wife had the Fried Chickem Sandwich (which tasted like fish) and I ordered the Fish ‘n Chips which were so hard they were uncuttable. I sent them back and they never were produced to me. The waitress apologized that the chef was unable to get them right. Our friends had burgers which they enjoyed. The service was good, but I doubt I will be back.
I wold try again!
Congrats! Look forward to regular visits. Love me some beer and beef brisket.
