El Pollo Loco to RP

SoCal chicken spot to open in September

Fast food joints opening up aren’t usually big news (except when it’s an In N Out), but this one is near and dear to many SoCal transplants, and probably worth a mention.
El Pollo Loco, a chain of flame-grilled chicken restaurants (think KFC without the “F”) famous for their herb, spice and citrus marinade is coming to Rohnert Park in September. The restaurant has a Mexican flair, serving up tortillas, salsa, beans and Spanish rice along with the usual fries, mashed taters and corn and macaroni.
The location: 5215 Redwood Dr., Rohnert Park

  1. Well, I am a BIG fan of El Pollo Loco. I have been waiting for like 10 YEARS for them to open up in Sonoma County. 3 piece combo used to be like $4 but now it is like $7. The chicken is awesome the rest is just OK – So I drive up twice a week to see when they are going to open. I hate fast food – but I love El Pollo Loco. I will be there at least once a week for sure. IMO Flame broiled chicken is a skill to do right. They have it down.

  2. Whoo! Hoo! My wife and I have been waiting for this for a long time. We used to eat at the one in San Pablo and ever since we moved to Santa Rosa, we’ve been missing it. We even wrote to the company suggesting they open one in this area, and now they have. We tried Super Pollo but it wasn’t quite the same. Whoo Hoo!

  3. Dang. I was hoping the next chicken-based fast food restaurant would be Chik Fil-A. I wont complain though and will give El Pollo Loco a fair trial 🙂

    1. twenty years ago, there WAS a Chik-fil-A and a doughnut shop in the Santa Rosa Plaza, before the food court was redone and moved down toward Sears on the second floor.
