David Cooper and Virginia Morgan are the owners and winemakers at Yoakim Bridge Vineyards. Set on four acres of land at the northern end of Dry Creek Valley in Healdsburg, California, this homestead consists of an 1886 Victorian farmhouse with a rustic tasting room offering a stunning valley view.
Their approach to winemakeing is respect – using natural, sustainable methods of cover cropping to replace nitrogen in the soil, and returning all the composted grape seeds, skins, and stems to the vineyard for additional nutrition.
The old Zinfandel vineyard is head pruned and dry farmed; an ancient Italian method of farming that does not supplement the vines with water or nutrients from irrigation. They believe this then creates grapes of great varietal intensity and flavor. The tasting fee when visiting is $10 per person, with the unique addition that two persons can share one taste.
